Based in Leipzig, Germany, Antje Reitler is an artist who has long been drawn to capturing the beauty, spirit and joy of animals. After early beginnings with drawing, she devoted many years to working with animals and in animal rescue both in Germany and Canada. In 2016 she focused on animal portraiture mostly in Pastel. Searching for new ways of expression and an interest in Mixed Media led to her studiying at Milan Art Institute.

Her recent work is done in oil over acrylic, in a vibrant abstract realism style. She creates pieces that highlight animals as joyful, happy beings. Her vision is to show what is often overlooked: reflections of beauty, simple joy and connection.

Her hope is for viewers to smile, to pause and to rediscover the wonder in everday life. Her art seeks to uplift and remind that beauty can be found in unassuming corners.
